Research & Genealogical Activities Jack Butler, our primary researcher, is an experienced genealogist who has been helping folks track their ancestors for the last ten years. He has researched extensively throughout the South, as well as in New England, Canada and the United Kingdom. But as a 5th generation Floridian, with strong ties to neighboring states, he has a special interest in the family histories of Florida, Georgia and Alabama.Jack currently serves as a member of the Board for the Tallahasse Genealogy Society. He is also the current Vice President of the Florida Chapter of the Association of Professional Genealogists PublicationsJack has worked as a professional writer for more than ten years and has written books as well as numerous manuals and articles.
His genealogical writings include: The Tallahassee Democrat, Tallahassee, Florida: a monthly column on genealogical topics. The Alexanders, A Family History; a narrative genealogy detailing five generations of one family and multiple generations of ten families that married into that family. Tracked immigration from North Ireland, England, and Scotland into Canada and the United States.
. The Tallahassee Genealogist: For the last 2 years Jack has served as editor of this quarterly journal. He has contributed several articles such as "Leon County's Revolutionary War Veterans", "Land Records, The Forgotten Resource", "Cemetery Research: Finding Them From Home," "Newspapers - Getting Beyond the Obituaries".
